
Construction Project Developer
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Steam Management, Inc. (SMI) is a premier energy conservation contractor providing custom design/build solutions to facilities nationwide. Employees in this job are involved with the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of steam systems, hot water systems and plumbing systems including specialized mechanical equipment for retrofit applications to provide turn-key energy conservation projects. Our contracts generally include project development, survey and design, and project management of subcontracted licensed trade labor to execute installations. SMI purchases most equipment directly, handling and managing the materials on site.
PROJECT DEVELOPER JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project Developer will work with the sales and operations team to identify and develop energy projects for our customers. Project Developers create scopes of work which can be quantified, priced, and presented to various customers across the eastern and midwestern United States. Project Developers are required to travel as needed to survey facilities of opportunity. Data collection methods are employed onsite and complied for proposal generation. A home office is required for backend proposal and design work. The developer is also responsible for modeling budgeted costs and savings impacts. The role at times also requires accessing spaces which require some physical fitness.
RESPONSIBILITIES:• Compliance with SMI procedures
• Adhere to SMI safety rules, ensure compliance
• Conduct site surveys/audits in a safe and professional manner
• Develop and design mechanical scopes of work to be installed per contract
• Model costs and savings for developed scopes of work
• Maintain filing of information and data of generated proposals
• Work with and understand operations department functions and stakeholders
• Interact with customer personnel to gain knowledge of scope and access to work areas
• Maintain written status to SMI Sales & Operations on project status
• Maintain written status updates to customer
• Maintain open lines of communication with customer, subcontractor and SMI management
• Uphold Steam Management’s Standards of Quality and Excellence
• Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• M.E. degree with minimum five-years’ experience in mechanical design or related equivalent work experience
• Proficiency in MS Office suite - Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, AutoCAD
• Technical writing
• Ability to work independently and remotely on projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with all project stakeholders
• Travel required as needed
• Plumbing and mechanical skills and experience, to include steam system maintenance experience a plus
